SUMMARY:WDP: I made you wonderful
DESCRIPTION:This year’s programme is written by the World Day of Prayer Committee of the Cook Islands. \n\n\n\n\nI will praise You\, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;Marvellous are Your works\,And that my soul knows very well. \n\n\n\n\nPsalm 139:14 \n\n\n\nOur sisters from the Cook Islands have spent the last few years deepening into the theme: “I Made You Wonderful\,” based on Psalm 139:1-18. \n\n\n\nThe 2025 program invites us into the knowledge that each one of us was made with care and love by God. When we can receive this profound truth\, everything in our life changes and we begin to radiate and shine from within. We also learn how to treat every other person as made wonderful by God. \n\n\n\nMargaret Clark WDP National Committee urges you to attend an ecumenical Preparation day in your area and take the learning back to all parishes .  \n\n\n\nMake it part of the  Roman Catholic church’s Jubilee celebration!  \n\n\n\nSee Preparation Days you can attend on wwdp.org.uk

SUMMARY:Who are we walking with in Synodality?
DESCRIPTION:NBCW Ecumenical Committee invite you to: \n\n\n\nWho are we walking with synodalityDownload\n\n\n\nWho are we walking with in synodality?\n\n\n\nEcumenism and the synodal church.\n\n\n\nSynodality\, which emphasizes collaboration\, listening\, dialogue\, and shared decision-making\, invites us to reflect on who we walk with as we navigate the path of faith together with our fellow Christians. \n\n\n\nPlease join Professor Clare Watkins in a compelling webinar as she explores the intersection of ecumenism\, and the synodal journey of the Church. \n\n\n\nAbout Professor Clare WatkinsProfessor Clare Watkins leads the research project “Conversations\, Culture\, and communion: networking for church vitality and health” at the Centre for Catholic Studies\, Durham University. \n\n\n\nFollowing on from the Boundary Breaking project researching the impacts of clergy sexual abuse in the Catholic Church in England and Wales\, her work uses participative practice: engaged theological methods to widen the conversation\, and generate new theological thinking and church practice in response to what can be learned from the wounds of abuse and cover-up. \n\n\n\nClare also has worked for many years with the Dicastery for Christian Unity\, serving on both the Methodist-Roman Catholic International Dialogue Commission\, and the working group for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. \n\n\n\nJoin us on Zoom \n\n\n\nTopic: Who are we walking with in synodality?Time: Mar 4\, 2025 07:00 PM LondonJoin Zoom Meetinghttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/84550249470?pwd=IJxETiXjkiVvTo8nYIwb5DYQmwDeIZ.1 \n\n\n\nMeeting ID: 845 5024 9470Passcode: 991050

A search for meaning led her to the nuns of Akenside Priory. \n\n\n\nHere she found a tight-knit community of dedicated women and peace in an ancient way of life. DESCRIPTION:The Education Committee would like to invite you to a webinar entitled ‘See\, Acknowledge\, Remember: Reading Female Subjectivity in Ancient Jewish Texts’. \n\n\n\nThis will be given by Oxford graduate\, who is also the recipient of the postgraduate award from the British and Irish Association for Jewish studies. \n\n\n\nPia Regensburger will propose a fresh way forward in the field of feminist biblical studies and feminism by: \n\n\n\n1. redefining the essence of feminism as a form of thought that not only tolerates difference\, but sees it as a fund of necessary polarities between which our creativity can spark; and 2. reading selected biblical texts through what she describes as a “lens of solidarity.” \n\n\n\nHer aim is to open a dialogue to examine within the webinar how wo/men can productively engage in critical readings of the Bible as a community.   \n\n\n\nPia graduated with a first-class honours degree from the University of Oxford in 2023 and is currently studying for an MPhil in Theology (Hebrew Bible) at Oriel College. SUMMARY:NBCW Book Club: ‘Phoebe’ by Paula Gooder
DESCRIPTION:The book being discussed is ‘Phoebe’ by Paula Gooder. \n\n\n\n\nSometime around 56 AD\, the apostle Paul wrote to the church in Rome. His letter was arguably his theological masterpiece\, and has continued to shape Christian faith ever since. He entrusted this letter to Phoebe\, the deacon of the church at Cenchreae; in writing to the church that almost surely met in her home\, Paul refers to her both as a deacon and as a helper or patron of many. But who was this remarkable woman? \n\n\n\n\n\nIn this\, her first novel\, Biblical scholar and popular author and speaker Paula Gooder tells Phoebe’s story – who she was\, the life she lived and her first-century faith – and in doing so opens up Paul’s theology\, giving a sense of the cultural and historical pressures that shaped Paul’s thinking\, and the faith of the early church. \n\n\n\n\n\nWritten in the gripping style of Gerd Theissen’s The Shadow of the Galilean\, and similarly rigorously researched\, this is a novel for everyone and anyone who wants to engage more deeply and imaginatively with Paul’s theology – from one of the UK’s foremost New Testament scholars. \n\n\n\n\nPlease join the discussion on Zoom – everyone is welcome.
