Written by The Women in the Church Committee of the National Board of Catholic Women (NBCW) recently hosted another session in their Inspiring Women webinar series, designed to inspire and empower women to live out their faith with purpose and joy.
Speakers:
- Sr Miriam, a Benedictine Sister from Turvey Abbey, Bedfordshire (Northampton Diocese): Drawing on her experience in monastic life, Sr Miriam shared her deep wisdom and prayerful insights about how Baptism calls each of us into a life of service and spiritual growth. Her reflections, rooted in Benedictine values, provided a rich understanding of how faith shapes our everyday lives.
- Louisa Grundy, a lay woman from Hertfordshire (Westminster Diocese): Louisa, a psychotherapist and counsellor trainer, brought her professional expertise and personal experience as a wife and mother of four to the discussion. She offered practical advice on how to embrace God’s call within the realities of family and work life, inspiring participants with her blend of authenticity and faith.
The event reflected on Pope Francis’s reminder that through Baptism, each of us is called to a life of holiness and mission. It explored how women of the Church can live out this calling fully and authentically.
Highlights included:
- An introduction to the spiritual and theological significance of Baptism.
- Inspiring talks on embracing a Baptismal calling through prayer, service, and commitment.
- Opportunities for rich discussions in parish groups and smaller breakout rooms, fostering shared growth and connection.
The session encouraged women to consider how they might take steps to live out their Baptismal calling with greater intention and joy. Many participants left feeling inspired to explore new ways to serve their communities and deepen their relationship with God.
