A Sacred Walk: Catholic Women Living a Life of Dedication
27 October — 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The National Board of Catholic Women is launching a new way of accompanying women. One that honours the depth, complexity, and beauty of women’s lives.
Catholic Women Walking with Women: A Faith Journey Through Life’s Seasons is a year-long webinar series designed to meet women where they truly are, in the real circumstances and rhythms of life, and to explore how God walks with us in every season.
In our October event please join Hannah Vaughen-Spruce and Liz Dodd to discuss:
- The beauty of sacred singlehood
- Serving the Church and community in unique ways
- Strengthening one’s relationship with Christ in solitude
Dr. Hannah Vaughan-Spruce is a consecrated virgin and Executive Director of Divine Renovation UK, a Catholic ministry inspiring and equipping parishes to become mission-focused. She read Theology at Cambridge and was awarded her PhD from St Mary’s University, Twickenham in the area of sociology of religion and theology in 2021. She has published a number of books, including co-authoring, Why Catholics Leave, What They Miss and How They Might Return (Paulist Press, 2019), Handbook for Catechists (CTS, 2018) and After Secularisation: The Present and Future of British Catholicism (CTS, 2025). She is based in the Diocese of Plymouth, UK.
Sister Liz Dodd, born in Oxford, studied Theology at Magdalene
College, Cambridge, worked as a music journalist and travel writer for
National Geographic Traveller (UK), The Guardian, and The Independent,
and served as home news editor at The Tablet from 2016 to 2021—a
period that included taking a sabbatical to bicycle around the world.
She made her final profession as a Sister of St Joseph of Peace in
September 2026. Drawn to the Congregation’s “expansive spirituality,”
Sister Liz’s formation has focused on solidarity with marginalized
communities. She currently provides hospitality to asylee women and
youth experiencing homelessness at St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality
in Nottingham.
In addition to her vows, Sister Liz is an author, broadcaster and
speaker. Rooted in her background in Feminist and Liberation
theologies and her hands-on social justice work, she authored the 2026
Bloomsbury Lent Book, Easter in Disguise, which invites readers to
embrace Lent as a season of radical resistance and global change. She
also continues to write as a regular columnist for The Tablet and
co-hosts its podcast, The Whys and Wherefores. She co-hosts a weekly
podcast on spirituality for young people, Nun The Wiser.
