See, Acknowledge, Remember: Reading Female Subjectivity in Ancient Jewish Texts

12 October 11:00 am 1:00 pm

The Education Committee would like to invite you to a webinar entitled ‘See, Acknowledge, Remember: Reading Female Subjectivity in Ancient Jewish Texts’.

This will be given by Oxford graduate, who is also the recipient of the postgraduate award from the British and Irish Association for Jewish studies.

Pia Regensburger will propose a fresh way forward in the field of feminist biblical studies and feminism by:

1. redefining the essence of feminism as a form of thought that not only tolerates difference, but sees it as a fund of necessary polarities between which our creativity can spark; and 2. reading selected biblical texts through what she describes as a “lens of solidarity.”

Her aim is to open a dialogue to examine within the webinar how wo/men can productively engage in critical readings of the Bible as a community.

Pia graduated with a first-class honours degree from the University of Oxford in 2023 and is currently studying for an MPhil in Theology (Hebrew Bible) at Oriel College. She is the winner of this year’s postgraduate essay prize from the British and Irish Association for Jewish Studies and holder of the Senior and Junior Pusey & Ellerton Prizes, as well as the Hall-Houghton Septuagint Prize.
