Happy 150th Anniversary to the Mother’s Union!

On Wednesday, 10 June the Church of England’s Mothers’ Union celebrated their 150th anniversary at St Paul’s Cathedral. As president of the National Board of Catholic Women, I was invited to attend.

The event began with hospitality at their headquarters in Westminster, where the history of the organisation and its work was displayed. In addition to this there was the most spectacular wall hanging of all the branches, which are located around the globe. After socialising with tea and cake, we were taken by bus to St Paul’s Cathedral where we met with hundreds of members. Indeed, the cathedral was packed!

The Archbishop of Canterbury celebrated the Eucharist with a great number of female bishops and clergy.

I was privileged to meet so many wonderful ladies of faith who extended the hand of friendship to the NBCW with a promise to further ecumenical relations. So, with business cards in hand, I returned home with the intention of keeping this wholesome faith filled connection alive.

Happy Anniversary to the ladies of the Mothers’ union.
