Responding to the appointment of Dame Sarah Mullally to the office of Archbishop of Canterbury, Vice-president of the NBCW Jacintha Bowe said:
This is truly an historic occasion, and whilst we know that it does not come without tension, we at the National Board of Catholic Women assure her of our support and prayers. We look forward in friendship to witnessing her unique gifts and hope that they will accelerate and further the unity and close co-operation that exists between Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church, as we share Christ’s mission together. In the spirit of Receptive Ecumenism, we as Catholic women anticipate being beneficiaries of her wisdom as she continues in the footsteps of so many inspiring women of God who modelled their ministry on the servanthood of Jesus. May she be a leading light for us all as we continue to build God’s Kingdom.
